  • This week's article: What I've been reading

My "to read" pile never goes down. As soon as I've ticked one more book off the list, I add several more. It's quite possible that I'm a #bookaddict (and also a #hashtag addict, but that's another article).

In the last few weeks, I've finished reading An Unlikely Occultist by Isobel Blackthorn (read my review) and War and Resistance by Sophie Masson (I'll have a review and an interview to share soon). I'm part way through Confessions of a Misfit Enterpreneur: How to succeed in business despite yourself by Kate Toon and have started Chocolat by Joanne Harris. I hadn't known this one was the first in a series by Harris. When I picked up The Strawberry Thief, I was a little confused by the change in characters and then realised there was a story in between to be read as well, The Lollipop Shoes.

I haven't read Chocolat (1), though I've seen the movie several times, so I'm starting at the start with the 20th Anniversary Edition of Chocolat complete with an introduction from the author that shares some of the background to the story and characters. For instance, did you know that the characters of Vianne and Armande were based on the author's great-grandmother? What a character she must have been to be so inspirational! Good reading for Easter too! ( #chocolateaddict )

My go to, middle-of-the-night, when I can't sleep read remains Van Gogh The Life by Steven Naifeh & Gregory White Smith. It's a detailed and interesting biography of Vincent Van Gogh. The book is of the type that could be described as a door-stopper - thick and heavy, which means it can't go traveling with me so it lives in my #readingroom and waits for sleepless nights.

Which books are at the top of your "to be read" pile?
